I am first and foremost a pediatric hematologist/oncologist who provides clinical care to children with cancer and diseases of the blood. Since I took up painting, I have donated pieces to the clinic where I work and to auctions held by organizations who raise money to help support these very special patients. Dance Blue is a University of Kentucky, non-profit, student-run organization dedicated to raising funds to support the treatment and research projects surrounding childhood cancers. Most of the donated paintings I’ve done have gone to DanceBlue, while others have been donated to other organizations like the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Kids Cancer Alliance. Others are tucked into clinic rooms to try and brighten those spaces where we interact with our patients.
