I totally left my comfort zone with this piece. I was envisioning a dark humanoid figure in a caveman-art style, centrally placed on the canvas and bathed in a concentric prism. The concept was that man’s place in the world is heavily influenced by his/her/their environment, and that we – like colors themselves – are actually a blend of individualism with those around us. All of the paints were mixed with acrylic gel to achieve very thick impasto on the canvas. What is totally unique about this painting is that the paint was applied with a silicon color shaper rather than a brush or a palette knife. This is also one of the very few paintings I’ve done that did not use tape at all, so the borders between colors are fluid rather than sharp.
