Ocean Flower

22 in x 22 in,

I liked the patterning of “SunFire Flower”, the most recent painting that I did, so I laid down the exact same outline for this one. Instead of warm hues, however, I painted this piece with teals, aquas, blues and greens to evoke the many shades of water in the ocean. The radial symmetry and layering of segments give the composition a contemplative, almost meditative quality. My goal is for the inclusion of textural differences and variation in pattern density to keep the viewer engaged, continually discovering new interactions between shapes and colors. This painting is a celebration of the serenity found in natural aquatic environments.
