Interference Air

18 in x 29 in,

2/25

I painted this picture with the intent that it would be part of a"Natural Elements" exhibition which would feature paintings related to "Fire", "Water", "Land", "Space" and "Air". Here I tried to depict "air", which is quite a challenge considering air is usually transparent and colorless. I chose to use varying shades of white, with some textured shapes and others overlaid with "interference" colors which look uninspiring head-on but then develop a subtle colored shimmer when looked at from an angle. I put in interference blue, violet and red and laid down the shapes lengthwise horizontally thinking about a sunset sky.
