Homage to University Flats

I painted this on the occasion of my daughter moving into her true first apartment by herself. As she started medical school, she moved into University Flats, a graduate and professional student residential housing unit on the campus of the University of Kentucky. Built within the prior five years, it still had that "new" feeling to it, and her apartment was very nice. The decor of the building is in taupes, silvers, and browns with blue highlights (I suppose because it's at UK). In this geometric piece, I tried to recall that color palette, and instead of adding white shapes - which I tend to always like to do - I decided instead to add white outlining to some of the components in the piece. Hopefully she will like it, and find a suitable spot for it in “U-Flats”.
