Feel the Burn

I painted this piece in order to document the process of how most of my paintings are done - laying down a grid, taping off shapes one color at a time, adding each color in sequence, doing the touch-ups in between colors, and deciding what colors come next based on how the piece looks and how I want the finished product to come together. My intent was to put the photos that I took documenting each step together in a video to show the evolution of the piece. For this painting, I chose colors in the warm/hot range - reds, golds, oranges, and yellows - with plenty of transparent colors and metallics thrown in. In the end, the piece reminded me of fire, so I named it "Feel the Burn".
