This piece is made up of several neutral colors mixed in with various shades of rich blues. I used a variety of approaches to fill in the grid to yield different textures and effects. The canvas for this was Belgian linen, which usually is a treat to paint on, but for some reason the surface of the canvas lacked enough holding power to adhere some of the squares of paint that would come up unintentionally when I masked in an adjacent shape, so there are probably dozens and dozens of touch-ups in the final piece. I stamped on the dots after the piece was finished. My daughter said it reminded her of a camera, so I chose “F Stop” as the title.
