And They’re Off…

I painted this picture with a specific painting in mind. My barber has a painting of horses racing in the Kentucky Derby. She has long been interested in my paintings, and I told her that I would be happy to paint her one. She took a very long time to tell me what colors she liked, but finally she pointed to the horse racing painting and said "I like peaches and teals, like that in the painting". So I had that painting in mind when I did this one for her. There are probably 25 different colors in this, very heavy on the pinks/peaches and teals, with complementary colors added in, including about 10 custom colors I mixed for this piece. As I painted it, the bright colors reminded me of those you might see in jockey silks. I think the painting will be a very nice "match" to her Derby painting, and hope she likes it very much.
