The inspiration for this piece came a few years ago at the San Francisco Museum of Modern art when my daughter Julia, dressed in a bright red coat, made her way through a spider web-like room-sized maze. I wanted to make a web-like grid filled in here and there with bright blue, bright red and bright yellow.
