My younger sister Pamela is a gifted songwriter, and she wrote a song for a friend who lost her daughter to cancer. For this woman, her daughter's pink couch embodied her artistic spirit, so my sister wrote a lovely and moving song about the pink couch. I was thinking of the couch when I was developing this painting which is infused with dozens of different pinks, magentas and violet shades. When Pamela found out about the painting, she told me how appropriate this painting was because her friend’s daughter was an art enthusiast. I want this picture to represent the power of creativity to add to the human spirit.
