This painting pays homage to the University of Kentucky, where I've worked for twenty years at the time it was created. To make it, I downloaded the official UK logo from their website, blew it up and traced it onto the canvas. I bordered the piece with blocks of different hues and textures of blues, and filled in the center with whites. The interlocking U and K of the logo were challenging to replicate crisply. I added thin blue lines between the border and the logo to complement the white space and to give interest.
