One Fine Day

I tend to paint seasonally, so when March rolls around, I think "green". Green for the new Spring growth, and green for St. Patrick's day. This picture was made in March while I was thinking of all things green. There are at least thirty different greens in the piece, and I intentionally made a complex grid laid down using geometric compasses and rulers. I finished the piece by adding small green dots here and there to the piece. There are metallic paints and several transparent paints laid down with a "bounce-the-brush" impasto technique. When my daughter saw it, she said it reminded her of the Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz, so we named it “One Fine Day” in honor of the song from “Wicked”.
