What this painting lacks in vibrant colors it makes up for in textures and bling. My inspiration for this piece was a wheel in motion, and I used many different neutral colors - whites, blacks, grays and silvers in the work. I also used an adjustable drafting triangle to lay down the triangles from center, each offset by 5 degrees in progression. I then filled them in with an ombre of grays to start out the painting and then the rest followed. There are a lot of insets in the shapes, and I laid down a ton of impasto (texture) using palette knives of different sizes and shapes and some stiff old brushes that are perfect for texture but not so much for smoother applications. The center circle I decided to fill in with liquid acrylics and then to swirl it so that it also looked like it was in motion.
