Fire in the Hole

22 in x 22 in,

I envisioned fire when I created this painting, but instead of putting the light color (yellow) in the center, I decided to flip things so that the piece would go from dark in the middle to light on the edges. The effect made me think of a flame emerging out of a central hole. The grid was laid down using a combination of straight and circular lines. Basically, there are 5 separate circular areas, filled in with browns (in the center), then burgundies/dark reds, then lighter reds, then oranges and finally yellows and golds around the perimeter.
