Cytokinesis

This is a painting that evolved over time. I first made it in 2022, and then I looked at it again in and saw the opportunity to enhance it with the mandala dots and the textured micacious iron oxide triangles in each corner. Exploring the neutral colors, I developed this painting with an ombre of grays, silvers, blacks and whites in mind. It reminds me of two cells breaking apart after a round of division. This process, called "cytokinesis", gave the painting its name.
