Brown Starburst

18 in x 24 in

- 04/2020

Like an exploding star, this one seems to either be coming at you or receding away, depending on your mood and perspective. There used to be an off-green light brown in the painting, but over time I decided that it didn’t fit so this painting was “rehabilitated” and I changed the color to a metallic bronze months after it was initially finished. Then, in August of 2025, I pulled it out of the storage closet, and considered that I could modify it even further to make it compatible with the “Complexion” exhibit. I added insets, lines and dots in various colors of human pigmentation. Finally, I think it has matured into what I wanted it to be.
