This aboriginal-inspired piece uses different shades of neutrals that reflect the many colors of human skin complexions. It started with laying down an S-shaped curve made by a geometric compass originating at the quarter-marks of the long vertices of the rectangular canvas and passing through the center of the canvas. This piece, unlike most of my paintings, was done without a grid. Rather, I used dot applicators of varying diameter to lay down alternating colors, simply following the S curve and going from larges dots in the middle to progressively smaller dots to the edges. I alternated dark colors with light colors to provide interest and structure to the design.
