Autumn Flow

18 in x 29 in,

11/2023

I painted this piece immediately after finishing my work for the 2024 "Prismatic" exhibition at the Lexington Art League, so I have to admit I was quite weary of the full color spectrum. Perhaps because it was right around Thanksgiving time, I opted to go with a "Fall" color palette. And in this one, I free-hand drew the lines, hoping to lay down a grid that looked something like falling leaves. It's hard to describe how the finished piece hit me - was it more like tiger stripes (if the painting is oriented vertically) or more like flowing water (when the painting is held horizontal). I'm not sure, but I think it turned out quite interestingly.
