I came up with the idea of combining a circular target pattern with a complex linear background. There are over 120 colors in the painting, arranged in a ROYGBIV spectral sequence starting with violet in the center, flanked by cool blues and greens and then progressing into yellows, oranges and reds toward the circumference. When I reflected on the finished piece, it looked cracked or shattered, and my first instinct was to call it "Cracked Rainbow Target". But a colleague at work suggested “Through the Fractured Looking Glass”, which I liked very much.
