Ring of Fire

In this painting, I was dabbling with the warm color side (ROY) of the prism. This piece was my first one where I used a geometric compass to draw concentric circles from the central point of the canvas. I then laid down a grid based on dividing up the perimeter, and then filled in the painting with dozens of reds, oranges and yellows. I decided to outline the piece in “muted pink” which comes out like a dark brick red, rather than to bring the ombre shapes all the way to the edges. When it was done, it reminded me of a "Ring of Fire".
