Purple Web

This was among my very first paintings, and I painted this one on the request of my daughter Julia. She wanted a painting filled with purple – her favorite color – for her room. I used several shades of purple in the piece, separated by black lines in a pattern that reminded me of a spider web. I then revisited the piece some years after the initial painting was done, and I “rejuvenated” it to make the colors blend better, to improve the technical result, and to add the mandala dots for interest. She has it hanging in a prominent place on the wall – an overdose of purple!
