Patchwork Giraffe

My daughter had a teacher in high school who used to decorate her blackboard with these kinds of geometric doodles. It appealed to me when I saw it because it fit with my geometric style. This was a painting I made for our guest room which is filled with warm earthy colors. I used muted browns, golds, reds and oranges to match the room. I painted it soon after “Eggshell Explosion” and continued the trend of using off-white lines to separate the shapes, but in this one, I added an extra dimension of color within the shapes to make it more interesting. This painting reminds me of the reticulated patterning of a giraffe, which inspired its name.
