"Mixed Berries" turns the familiar abundance of a summer fruit bowl into a radiant geometric meditation. On a circular canvas, overlapping arcs and petal forms grow outward from a segmented bright red core. They build a lattice that feels both mathematically exact and alive, closer to a ripening bloom than a diagram. The palette carries the theme. Raspberry, cranberry and crimson mix with blueberry periwinkle, violet and the near-black plum of ripe blackberries. At the center, warm tangerine wedges read like a sliced citrus or a sunlit seed, a source of energy that the cooler outer rings take in and spread. As the eye moves from center to edge, the colors deepen from bright reds through luminous lavenders to dusky wine and indigo. It feels like a bowl of berries seen first in sunlight and then in shadow. The structure comes from radial symmetry. Intersecting curves create layered petals, pointed stars and rounded shapes, so the image shifts as you look: one moment a flower, then a rose window, then a kaleidoscope turning. The tondo (circular) format adds to that sense of rotation. It also echoes plates, bowls and the round shapes of the fruit, holding the composition in one continuous motion. The surface is intentionally varied. Some passages are flat and opaque, while others have a granular, speckled texture, bringing a tactile, organic quality into an otherwise hard-edged design. "Mixed Berries" invites the viewer to find order in abundance. Like a harvest gathered and arranged, it celebrates variety held together by rhythm, where each color keeps its own voice inside a shared, glowing whole.
