In our house, there is a sliver of wall between the kitchen and the family room that we rotate paintings throughout the year based on the seasons or holidays. Typically we put 13 in x 21 in pieces in this space - one of my favorite canvas sizes that just so happens to conform to the “Fibonacci ratio”. I painted this picture using the colors of a Lily Pulitzer pattern, with the idea that it would make a nice Spring rotation piece for that space. It was fun to do this painting because I had just done a lot of brown paintings and this one gave me the opportunity to incorporate vivid and bright colors. I don’t often have the the chance to use fluorescent pink in a painting, so this was certainly a distinctive feature of this piece.
