Intergalactic

“Intergalactic” reads like a kaleidoscope mid‑spin, with a skewed central square set on the diagonal, triangular edge shapes, and a slightly off‑kilter red‑to‑blue grid that gives it a space‑like feel. The nested, rotated squares create a sense of tilting or slipping space, with the inner square acting as a misaligned portal into another dimension. Hard black bands stabilize the vibrating color and shape relationships. Within this structure, small triangles and wedges arranged in a linear grid give the painting a crystalline, faceted order, yet the constant participation of each unit in larger patterns keeps the eye from resting.

A hot red core radiates outward into cooler magentas, violets, purples, and finally blues, suggesting heat, density, and gravitational pull surrounded by a cooling halo, like a star. This temperature gradient creates depth and implies time, with the center as origin or ignition and the edges as expansion and dissipation. Off‑kilter color families and shifting triangular modules produce motion and visual unease. Multiple rhythms—radiating spokes, concentric rings, and diagonals—form a complex visual polyrhythm akin to musical syncopation. Dark dots add a smaller scale of detail and keep the surface from becoming mechanically patterned, while the strict geometry prevents the loud color and density from collapsing into chaos, reinforcing a conceptual reading about cosmology and the instability of perception and perspective.
