Hubble

This painting is all about steely grays and blues. The grid I laid down was fairly complex, and I filled it in with probably three dozen distinct blues, whites and grays, including many custom blue/gray colors using Titanium White, Ultramarine and Payne’s Gray in various proportions to make an ombre effect. It has a fair share of metallic paints, some made custom by incorporating finely ground mica dust into transparent colors and gloss acrylic medium. I also used glazing to overlay silvers and whites with diluted Ultramarine or Phthalo blue. I was going for a "space" kind of look, and when my daughter saw it, she said it reminded her of the Hubble telescope. Fair enough, so I named it "Hubble".
