Autumn Mosaic

My goal for this painting was to celebrate the Fall in a geometric way by incorporating rich warm hues of rust reds, burnt oranges, golden yellows, warm browns, and deep greens organized symmetrically around a strong vertical axis. The repetition of triangles, wedges, and circular segments is intended to develop a visual rhythm where the viewer’s eye can study the interplay of shapes, textures and colors along the painting. Diagonal vectors in the corners add a sense of outward expansion, as if the central mandala radiates energy into the surrounding fields. Although the design is fundamentally flat and non‑illusionistic, it hints at layered depth through overlapping shapes and shifts in value. The juxtaposition of darker, textured fields with flatter, lighter shapes give the illusion of different regions taking turns coming forward to reinforce the sense of a complex, constructed mosaic rather than a single, uniform pattern. My intention was for the painting to have an inviting, almost festive mood from the warmth and saturation of the colors, meant to evoke the sights, sounds, and smells of a crisp Autumn day.
