A Throw of Stones

24 in x 36 in

08/2021

In this piece, I tried to use a variety of colors that stones might be found in nature. This painting was done as a grid, but on a rectangular canvas, so I made the segments rectangular instead of square. Each earth tone color takes up 6 segments, and when it was completed, it reminded me of a bunch of stones thrown (albeit in a very linear/geometric pattern). A few years later, I went back to it and added inner rectangles in each of the shapes to give it added interest and complexity.
