My patron asked for a symmetric painting that would use the yellows and blues of the San Diego (now LA) Chargers' football team in a pattern similar to “The Shield”, a painting of mine that appealed to him. I added the lightning bolts which were drawn from the trousers of their uniform. I documented my process (see “Process” for more information) to show the client how the painting was done.
